These are my ongoing scrapbooks of the Trump regime. I maintain them because it’s important to recognize the sheer, unprecedented volume of incompetence, kleptocratic fraud, and fascistic abuse of power that we’ve been experiencing.

Occasionally, a MAGA friend or relative will post a news item or meme that legitimately calls out some Democratic error or wrongdoing, and we can get bogged down debating that one item in a way that itself constitutes a MAGA victory.* They want to push the idea that “both sides do it”, which is almost always true but misleading. Both sides might lie or cheat or steal, but one side is significantly worse than the other, and that difference matters. Often in these cases, it can be better not to get bogged down in the one case they chose, but to counter with the many other cases that show that the GOP is the far more egregious offender in that area.
That’s where these scrapbooks come in.
- Feel free to share them in posts and replies.
- Please suggest additional items I can add to them.
- Finally, if you find any factual errors in them, let me know. I fact check everything before adding it to a gallery. The rate of items I decide to share but then discover contain inaccuracies is actually 15%, so posting “fake news” is something we progressives do, too. (The error rate of MAGA posts I occasionally check is close to 100%, another example of “both sides do it but one side is far worse.”)
* This is, by the way, the same tactic used by Creation “Scientists” and climate change deniers: to cherry pick isolated cases in which the science is still not settled or mistakes were made in the past and try to win the debate entirely based on those outliers, when the weight of all the other evidence is overwhelmingly against them. And a good way to reply is also to counter with a kind of scrapbook: the big picture of which their isolated cases are just a single brushstroke.
